2020 has been one of the most difficult years of my teaching career, but it has also been one of the most rewarding. So much has been written about the challenges of teaching in a pandemic and I have experienced all of those but I want to focus on the incredible gifts that this year and the weird situation that we have and continue to live through has given to my Grade 7s and myself.
Being a teacher during this time has been trying, difficult, nerve-wracking, frustrating, and heart-breaking, but also, ENLIGHTENING and a time of huge importance and growth.
Knights is a place where thinking is valued, visible and actively promoted. The content chosen for our curriculum allows our learners to evaluate information, focussing on solutions and drawing their own conclusions.
As we step into the 6th month of this new “normal” I like to wonder “Have a I made the most of this time?”, “Have I made the best use of this season?”, “What have I gained from this extremely unique, and hopefully once in a lifetime opportunity”…
