At Knights we have always had an innovative and forward-thinking approach to education. We also have a very inclusive approach and believe that every child God brings here has a space at our school, it’s how we partner with parents to bring out the best in each child. We fundamentally believe in student agency, giving them a voice, choice and ownership in their own learning journey.

Our High School model is different to the traditional model in that our focus is on an inquiry pedagogical approach. That together with a the top-down approach to the Cambridge Curriculum is used to develop and design a very individual programme with the end goal in mind. This allows each student to finish their school career at their own pace, and with voice and choice in mind.

Talents are God-given and the way we think and live establishes the platform for success. The reality of life is nestled in our daily existence and our dreams and ambitions form our true self. At Knights Pre School, we link our faith with our dreams and realities. Dedicated, Christian teachers, committed support staff, involved parents, and visionary leadership form the median for success, the building blocks for future well being and internal self-realisation. This creates a positive school environment with high expectations for life.

Inspired by the teachings of Christ, we cultivate a culture of compassion, where students are encouraged to empathise with others, extend kindness, and serve their community with love and grace.

Our school is more than just a place of learning; it’s a vibrant community where students, educators, and families come together in fellowship and unity, supporting and uplifting one another in faith and friendship.

Guided by biblical principles, we empower our students to embrace courage in the face of challenges, to stand firm in their beliefs, and to pursue their dreams with confidence and resilience.

We foster a spirit of curiosity and exploration, inspiring students to seek knowledge, ask questions, and engage in meaningful inquiry as they discover God’s truth in all aspects of life.

In Lower Secondary, encompassing Grade 8 and 9, we adopt a dynamic approach to learning that combines inquiry-based methods with the renowned Cambridge top-down approach. This strategic blend is designed to cultivate the essential skill set necessary for our students to excel at the IGCSE level and beyond.

Inquiry-based learning lies at the heart of our pedagogical approach. Here, students are not passive recipients of information but active participants in their own education journey. They are encouraged to ask probing questions, seek answers, draw connections, reflect on their learning, and take meaningful action. This immersive approach fosters a deeper understanding of concepts and encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Traditionally, education has often focused on the mere collection, retention, and regurgitation of facts. However, at our school, we recognise the limitations of such an approach. Instead, we prioritise the development of collaboration and effective communication skills. We understand that these skills are integral to success in our modern world and must be intentionally cultivated rather than acquired incidentally.

Through a rigorous learning process that emphasises exploration and high-level questioning, we challenge our students to make real-world connections and engage with complex concepts. By encouraging curiosity, fostering collaboration, and promoting effective communication, we prepare our students not only to excel academically but also to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.

In Grades 10 and 11, our students embark on an immersive exploration of the Cambridge curriculum, spanning an intensive two and a half years. During the initial phase, which comprises the first two years, our dedicated teachers meticulously guide students through the curriculum content while fostering the development of critical skills. Through interactive lessons and practical applications, students not only acquire a deep understanding of the subject matter but also hone their analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. This foundational period is crucial for laying the groundwork for success in their final examinations.

As the final examination period approaches, typically spanning four months, we focus on intensive preparation tailored to each student’s unique needs. Our teachers and tutors provide targeted support and guidance, ensuring that students are well-equipped to excel in their examinations. One of the hallmarks of our programme is its flexibility in subject selection. With the option to choose six subjects, students can tailor their academic path to align with their strengths, interests and future aspirations. Through collaborative consultations involving students, parents, and educators, we carefully craft personalised study plans, ensuring that each student receives the resources and support necessary to thrive academically and achieve their own personal desired outcomes.

In the final phase of our educational journey, Grade 12 or matric qualification, students immerse themselves in the rigorous International British Curriculum AS levels. Spanning 18 months, this phase is divided into 14 months of mastering content and skills, followed by 4 months dedicated to exam preparation. Here, subjects are more focused, typically comprising 4 or 5 specialised areas where detailed learning and practical application are emphasised. This period is marked by a heightened emphasis on effort and dedication as students diligently prepare for their examinations.

In this phase, students strategically select subjects, balancing IGCSE and A levels to fulfil the requirements for their International Cambridge Qualification. These choices are made in alignment with their individual study plans and ultimate career aspirations. We empower students to excel academically and personally, equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through a holistic approach to education rooted in Christian values, we nurture students to become compassionate, courageous, and curious individuals prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

Inquiry-based learning (IBL) in a high school setting is an educational approach that centres around students actively engaging in the learning process by asking questions, investigating concepts and seeking answers. At the Campus, our Inquiry-based Learning subject for Lower Secondary is designed to cultivate crucial approaches to learning that are essential for future success in the workplace.

Through this approach, students develop a range of skills, including research and information extraction, social and communication skills through collaborative work, and self-management skills such as time management and executive functioning. These skills are integral for navigating the complexities of the modern world and preparing students for the demands of higher education and the workforce.

Our Inquiry-based Learning curriculum exposes students to a diverse range of subjects, including business studies, social studies, as well as art and culture, complementing our four main learning subjects. By engaging in inquiry-based learning, students not only deepen their understanding of core subjects but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills that are vital for their academic and professional growth.

Exposing our students to various languages at a conversational level offers a multitude of benefits, particularly considering the globalised nature of our world and the likelihood that our students will travel and possibly study abroad in the future. At The Campus in Lower Secondary, we recognise the importance of equipping our students with linguistic skills that transcend borders and cultures.

By immersing our students in languages such as isiZulu or Afrikaans, as well as providing exposure to German, French, and Spanish, we broaden their cultural horizons and enhance their communication abilities. Learning multiple languages not only fosters cultural appreciation and sensitivity but also opens doors to diverse opportunities in academia, business, and personal relationships.

Moreover, language proficiency has been shown to enhance cognitive function, problem-solving skills, and memory retention. Students who are proficient in multiple languages often exhibit greater adaptability, flexibility, and resilience, traits that are invaluable in an increasingly interconnected world.

Through our language program, we aim to empower our students with the linguistic and cultural competence needed to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape. Whether they choose to pursue further studies abroad, engage in international business endeavours, or simply navigate multicultural environments with ease, the exposure to various languages at The Campus equips our students for success in an interconnected world.

Extra-curricular Offering

At our school, we believe in providing a well-rounded experience that encompasses both sporting and cultural pursuits. Our students have the opportunity to participate and develop skills in a variety of sporting disciplines, including swimming, netball, basketball, football, and 7s rugby. These sports are open to both girls and boys, fostering inclusivity and a sense of camaraderie among all students. For those aspiring to pursue sports at a professional level, we have established connections with high-level clubs to facilitate advanced training and skill development.

In addition to our sporting program, we offer opportunities for students to explore their vocational calling and gain exposure to various career paths available in the job market. Through practical life skills training, students are equipped with the tools necessary to navigate life beyond the classroom successfully. Furthermore, we prioritize the spiritual development of our students, empowering them to share and spread the Gospel. With guidance from the Holy Spirit, we encourage students to lead others to Jesus and deepen their understanding of the Father’s heart, fostering a sense of purpose and service within our school community.

On the cultural front, our students have formed their own Praise and Worship band, fostering creativity and spiritual growth through music. Additionally, we are expanding our cultural offerings to include activities such as Marimbas, Drama and Public Speaking, providing students with opportunities to explore and express their talents.

Our extracurricular program further enhances student development by focusing on practical skill-building sessions such as cooking, welding, and basic real-life skills. These sessions, offered on a termly basis, allow students to choose and attend sessions that align with their interests and aspirations, equipping them with essential life skills needed to thrive in society.

Kingdom Building

We firmly believe that each child in our school is uniquely gifted and called by God for a specific purpose. Encouraging students to discover and embrace their individual talents and abilities is at the core of our educational philosophy. As a school, we see it as our responsibility to steward these gifts in a way that empowers students to confidently live out their God-given destinies, ultimately bringing honour and glory to Him.

Our commitment to nurturing spiritual growth is reflected in our Kingdom Building lessons, held twice a week. During these sessions, youth pastors join us to guide students in exploring their identity in Christ. Through candid discussions and group activities, students engage with real-life struggles and controversial issues they face in today’s world. We challenge their beliefs and ideals, encouraging them to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit and form their own convictions.

At the heart of our school is a close-knit family and community united by our love for Jesus. Unashamedly, our children and community seek to glorify His name in all aspects of school life. Through our outreach program, we equip students to boldly share the Gospel, empowering them to impact the world around them with the love and truth of Christ.
